I have made my hotel reservations for GPG. I plan on driving out on Wednesday and returning on Sunday. There are two hotels, the Holiday Inn Express and Holiday Inn. The main group is at the Holiday Inn and the Express is to handle overflow. The Holiday Inn hasn't incorporated teh GPG group pricing, so I made reservations at the Express for $62/night. At least I get free breakfast. The hotels are right next door to each other too.

Anyone else planning on the trip?

Before you plan on going Wednesday, wait to see what the east coast convoy comes up with. Last time JC Hoefer set up a whole trip out, and we traveled out with 15GPs. Which is kinda cool, cause we have ALOT of video, plus with a large group like that you are less liklely to get pulled over.

And don't worry about staying with the rest of the GPG group, I stayed at another hotel...cost me $100 less!! Plus I was just around the corner from the main building, only shitty part was trying to find parking...but I didn't really care.

Didn't an entire Texas caravan get pulled over last year? Something like 20 cars pulled over for caravaning at 100+ mph?

ERRRR....yeah!

But that was because of how fast they were going...IIRC a bunch of them were arrested and were detained overnight, thye were also banned from KC for an entire year.
But thats why you don't go almost 3 times the posted speed limit!!! IE 140 in a 50!!!!!!!! Rolling Eyes

Our caravan did 85-90 all the way there(roads are 70 in the midwest) and we never ran into a problem, even passed a bunch of cops....and got passed by cops who just waved to us. I had to travel back home by myself, and I had the cruise set at 80 most of the way....never really slowed down, and only got radar hits maybe 2 or 3 times before I hit New York.

I also talked with Pete, the guy who is running this event. I'm hoping to be a sponsor of some sort. With some luck, we may have a Specialty Motoring Products GP Car Show.

If that is the case, I may have to leave Roxanne at home and drive whatever SUV we will have by then. I'll need someplace to keep my waxes and I don't have a trailer for Roxy to pull. Then again, I can keep my stuff int eh room when I'm racing....hmmm.

BABY!!!!

I drove out to Kansas City 1100 miles one way from Syracuse!!! Plus I drove home by myself in one day....took 15 hours but I finally got home!!

Yes it is a very long drive, but it is well worth the trip out. Plus the miles give your car Charecter!!! Wink

that must be hillbilly talk for character Laughing and no, it gives my car shorter track life. Remember, I'm planning on having this one for awhile. Currently Betty turned 4 yrs old this month, and still only 38,500 miles!!! Very Happy

the miles on the car don't really bother me, but brother, 9 hours in the car would. If I can get a friend to go with me, then maybe Wink

9 hours isn't too bad.

I do under 6 to Boston (just over 400 miles). I like to try to do an "ironman" run, ie. no stops at all. That makes it fun. Only been able to do that once with Becca, though.

You are right, 9hrs is a long time in a car......but it really isn't that much time, but then again I enjoy driving. The longest I have driven was the 15 hrs back from KC but I split time with my freind when we went to visit another freind in Daytona....22hrs of driving! But I guess when you get to your age it gets hard...with all the bathroom breaks!! Razz
