|

My 98 GTP has a DHP 1.5 PCM in it with a bit higher (6000 rpm) shift point then normal for a 1.5. Other then that, it's a DHP cookie cutter unit.
The shifts suck, esp. the lack of double down shifts. My Intense PCM I had before I foolishly traded it in on this DHP had awsome transmission control.
Has any body changed the shift perameters on their DHP 1.5 ? My car will only downshift 1 gear, like a stock PCM.
Also, has anyone used a ZZP PCM, if so, how was the shifting? _________________ 2001 Silver GTP coup 11.880@116.17 Fun Driver

Doug, is it a DHP 1.0 or 1.5? A 1.5 file is just a starter file, nothing crazy about it. Matter of fact Ive never liked DHP's transmission settings.
I am currently rocking a custom bin that started off as a ZZP file. So far I like the way the transmission shifts, 1st to 2nd is firm enough to feel. I don't do skips shits or WOT down shifts so I cant commend on those. I do have line pressure turned up, not all the way but more than stock. _________________ '08 TrailBlazer SS Black/Black |

Brian and Larry helped me out today by loading Brians current shift settings he uses into my PCM. It is better then what I was living with. Now I get my double downshifts, but it is still not as aggresive as the Intense PCM. I can live with this shift setting, thanks for your help guys |

the intense bin that you have, is that an hptuner file or powrtuner?
if it is an hptuner file could you send it my way? I have mine set but i'm not happy with it... it shifts hard when on perf, but I think i need to turn the pressures up a lil more. |

John, The tranny is fine, except that it had a DHP PCM with poor shift settings in it. It now has enough line pressure and correct settings to make the shift happen now, instead of taking a second or so. When I went from the Intense PCM to the DHP 1.5 the shifts were very slow. I got no response to my email from them and within 2 months the tranny was sliping so bad I changed it for the one in it now, which is a good tranny from a GTP with barly 50 k on it. With the very slow shifts the DHP was commanding I guess not having double downshifts was a good thing.
Now, with Brians shifting table the shifts are quick and resonably firm, not like a shift kit firmnes, but good enough. The tranny is acting like it should, and it now double down shifts at WOT, as it should have with a after market PCM.
Carl, thanks for your offer of the Intense shifting info, I will PM you . I liked the Intense PCM command of going from 4th (cruising) to 1st at WOT if it was at like 45mph or so.
I won't say the DHP PCM made my original tranny fail, but it sure as hell didn't help it, slow shifts when you are making lots of power can't be a good thing for the frictions in a tranny. My fault though for not doing this sooner.
Thanks again everyone |

Carl - Can you email me a bin? I'd like to compare it to Doug's bin.
I remember when a certain member was trying to kill his transmission. He probably should've had Doug drive his car for a week. |
