Saw these at advance auto:
http://www.actron.com/product_detail.php?pid=16318
This was recommended to me:
http://www.iequus.com/product_info.php?product_id=3130&category_id=1_10_7
Both can be found cheaper than their list price on Amazon.
Any opinions on it? Or better handheld unit?

yeah, buy john's autotap. reason #1:

Quote:
The Scan Tool is capable of recording approximately 20
frames of Live Data. Record by DTC trigger lets you select
the point in time at which you wish the Scan Tool to begin
recording Live Data. You can set the trigger point to record
the 20 frames of data before an event (when the DTC sets),
after the event, or in the middle (10 frames before and 10
frames after the event.

$299 for autotap w/unlimited data capture > $299 scan tool to capture only 20 frames of data

not a bad thought Smile What kind of specs that laptop have? Battery in ok shape (looking at your thread it has an inverter with it which negates that question)? Might jump on that Smile

The scan tools with my amazon discount will be around 120-140 bucks so thats more my price range, for something that I want to watch KR and check on other things after my pulley/tune. Ya know kinda keep on eye on things, something I can toss in my glove box once in awhile.

$299, although a good deal, and how much I would love grab that, is up their for me at this time, tunes aren't cheap, seems the only place that will tune a GP is New Era, $275 for a dyno I think, haven't really got a response back on what a "street" or "drive-ability" tune for a daily driver costs.
