What products do you use for the door hinges?

DW-40 or Silicone Liquid wrench seemed to "work" on my fathers car but never for very long.

White lithium grease is what a car shop put on it, and it worked, but also made the paint come off and they appear rusty.

Not wanting this same result on my vehicles I wanted to know what you guys use when they begin to make noise.

A few drops of 3-in-1 oil about once a year.
