It's 2010. Any thoughts on the Letchworth picnic? _________________ 2008 GP. Silver with blue theme.

We know the regular Picnic will happen in June.
This topic is Tyler's creation, giddy off some 2009 activity. I've seen this happen every year, after whichever state's annual meet just ended, and some freshly initiated member wants to flip the community on its head.
Unfortunately, a tossed-up idea doesn't pan out often. As you saw with this month's dinner, it takes someone carefully choosing a date based on events up to a month prior/after, a location that the least amount of people will b*tch about, and still having the luck to stick with the plans so at least a respectable # of people show up.
Some suggestions for something successful, based on what I've seen work here & other places... an early/mid/late-season track day when they aren't too packed... a summer car meet at a fresh location that has a draw with low cost, far enough after the Picnic for people to care again... plans to attend a large car show as a group, in a location most are near, that is popular enough to be worth going.

I'm down for meeting up in letchworth this summer.
I'm headed down to Carlisle PA for the GM nationals June 25-27.
If they have it again this year i'll probably be going to the GM powertrain show and shine at their St. Catherines plant. They had it the first friday of August the past 2 years so that would make it August 6th. There is usually a good showing of w-bodies there.
So anytime other than those dates will work for me. _________________

At this point I think Letchworth is a given.
It's just a matter of what else gets set up. The downfall of that has always been the date/location selection process. So much debate happens that eventually everyone loses interest.
If someone is interested in getting regular meets going (like we used to have), I say go for it. Pick a date; pick a time; pick a location. There is no way to get everyone to show, but you will likely get a few to show. |
