I have seen people with a "heat blanket"(looks like aluminum foil, I hopesomeone knows what I am talking about)on their air intake duct, some companys have it come with the intake(DEI Radiant Blanket). I was wondering can I buy one somewhere or make my own? I notice in my intake duct right above the exhaust does get pretty warm and I want to keep it cool as possible. Here's a pic of the blanket I need!

go to home depot or Loews and ask for "reflectix". It's a big roll of aluminzed insulation with adhesive on one side. It's usually in the weatherstripping / weather proofing aisle. _________________ 1998 Silvermist GTP Coupe

Man that airbox sucks balls. It's looks like you can put your whole hand in the HUGE gap, and touch the filter. Isn't the point of the box to sheild and block heat?
It also helps when you wrap the stock exhust Xover with header wrap. The 2x15 piece form summit for $15 works good. And steel wire works good to hold it over the expenive steel ties they sell. Use a silcon spray to seal the cloth wrap so oil and anything you spill on it. Will soke in and could cauch on fire. Search ClubGP, and other chapter GP sites for more info. I know theres writes up on it................. oh check this out.

I'd say don't remove the Xover if you wrap it. Just take the TB off and the airbox out. And your'll have room. I don't think I've ever ben able to get the rear studs out. Even on a trailor "Qweer" car. |

As Mike said, it's reflectix. Although you might find it insulated on both sides, without adhesive. In this case, they might also have reflectix tape to tape it to itself so it stays on.
Nice airbox (I have an MSP CAI). Johnny is just jealous because the company that makes his airbox has a slow manufacturing plant and they don't have any airboxes in inventory. |

I wrapped reflectix around my SLP CAI and it really didn't help. I see IATs about 6 to 10 above ambient while cruising but still end up heat soaked at the track (100*+) |

Thanks Mike for the help!
I went to Lowes and got some Reflectix 16" x 25' Foil Insulation, the smallest amount they had and cheapest too. |
