John told me this story.....the class rules say you need to have 4 matching tires to participate in that class. So that kid decided the best way to get traction, and sneak around the rules was to use 4 DRs. Cheaters! |

I guess this is the class that I would compete in? do they check the octane in your car then? how'd they get away with running higher than 94? |

INTENSE Drag Day V
The fifth INTENSE Drag Day (IDDV) is scheduled for Friday, April 16, 2004. Our venue of choice is once again Norwalk Raceway Park - which many consider to be the best track in the midwest. Trust us - it's worth taking a day off work to race at this place!
There are a total of five 3800 FWD race classes so everyone can compete with cars at their own level. This should give everyone a fair shot at the awards, and also increase the total number of prizes. All 3800-powered FWD cars are welcome for this full day of head to head racing in six separate classes, plus some bracket racing has been added in to make things even more interesting.
The gates will open at 8:30 a.m., and we have the track to ourselves for UNLIMITED PASSES between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. There will be several thousands of dollars worth of prizes paid out to more than a dozen winners. IHRA safety rules will apply (helmet for 13.99 and faster, roll bar for 11.49 and faster, etc.).
3800 Engine FWD - Naturally Aspirated Class
- street legal tires (street slicks or drag radials permitted, no skinnies)
- no power adder (supercharger, turbocharger or nitrous oxide system)
- any exhaust
- no wheelie bars
- prizes T.B.D.
- in case of a tie, this winner will be determined by trap speed
3800 Engine FWD - Stock Power Adder Class
- four matching radial tires on four matching wheels (same brand and size, no slicks, drag radials or skinnies)
- full interior (front and rear seats, carpeting, panels, etc.)
- pump gas only (94 octane maximum)
- any SINGLE power adder (supercharger, turbocharger or nitrous oxide system)
- stock camshaft
- no intercooler
- closed exhaust (no open headers or cutouts)
- no wheelie bars
- prizes T.B.D.
- in case of a tie, this winner will be determined by trap speed
3800 Engine FWD - Street Power Adder Class
- four radial tires (drag radials permitted, no slicks or skinnies)
- full interior (front and rear seats, carpeting, panels, etc.)
- any fuel
- any SINGLE power adder (supercharger, turbocharger or nitrous oxide system)
- any aftermarket camshaft or intercooler, but not both (optional)
- any complete exhaust system (headers and cutout permitted, must have muffler(s) in place)
- no wheelie bars
- prizes T.B.D.
- in case of a tie, this winner will be determined by trap speed
3800 Engine FWD - Contender Power Adder Class
- street legal drive tires (drag radials or street slicks permitted, no skinnies)
- full interior (front and rear seats, carpeting, panels, etc.)
- any fuel
- any power adder(s) (supercharger, turbocharger and/or nitrous oxide system)
- any camshaft
- any intercooler (optional)
- any complete exhaust system (headers and cutout permitted, must have muffler(s) in place)
- no wheelie bars
- prizes T.B.D.
- in case of a tie, this winner will be determined by trap speed
3800 Engine FWD - Big Dog Class
- any tires
- any interior
- any fuel
- any power adder(s) (supercharger, turbocharger and/or nitrous oxide system)
- any camshaft
- any intercooler(s)
- any exhaust
- any wheelie bars
- sorry, no awards (still eligible for Reaction Time category though)
- in case of a tie, this winner will be determined by trap speed
Other Class
- any tires
- any power adder(s) (supercharger, turbocharger and/or nitrous oxide system)
- any camshaft
- any exhaust
- any wheelie bars
- sorry, no awards
- in case of a tie, this winner will be determined by trap speed
3800 Engine FWD - Most Improved Over IDD IV
- biggest E.T. reduction since IDD IV
- must race same car in same class as IDD IV
- prizes T.B.D.
- in case of a tie, this winner will be determined by trap speed
Reaction Time
In addition to the fastest times in each class, we will also have an award for the best reaction time of the day.
- prizes T.B.D.
- in case of a tie, this winner will be determined by E.T.
3800 Engine FWD - Bracket Race
- every 3800 FWD racer is automatically entered in the bracket race
- format T.B.D.
- prizes T.B.D.
Track Preparation
The track will be fully prepared and both lanes will be sprayed for the first 660 feet. That's right - we're paying extra money to have the track prepared better than average. And "average" at Norwalk is better than many tracks ever achieve in a given year. Of course, an ambulance and fire safety crew will be on site during the entire event.
Admission
INTENSE Drag Day admission will be $59.00 U.S. per car to race, and $10.00 U.S. to watch (if you wait until the last minute to register). Anyone registering on or before March 31, 2004 will be admitted for $49.00 U.S. And anyone registering on or before February 29, 2003 will be admitted for $39.00 U.S.
Rain Date
In case of rain, this event will be rescheduled for Friday, April 23, 2004.
Refunds
Since entry fees help pay for all of the awards and we have a rain date scheduled NO REFUNDS will be given.
Lodging
LODGING INFO WILL BE POSTED ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 18TH.
