So, does it work?

That would be really cool if I'd start getting email notifications again.

Been a long, long time since I've seen one.

Nope. Doesn't work for me.

No notice of posts to a thread I asked for notifications on and no email about PMs.

Oh well.

Emails routing through the server are working just fine. I have close to 20 customers using this server's mail server flawlessly. Unfortunately one customer (UNYCGP) is having problems (although the word "customer" isn't exactly accurate to describe UNYCGP).

The real problem resides in the phpbb engine that UNYCGP uses. As I have said numerous times, this board's phpbb backbone desperately needs an overhaul. Much is the blame is my own as I have installed dozens of add-ons to this board's structure. Regardless, there have been several updated versions of phpbb released that this board should be updated to in order to correct all bugs and email issues. On the other hand, phpBB "Olympus" v3.0 should be released very soon, which is worlds better, faster, and more efficient than any current version of phpbb. So another option is to wait for this release. There is no timetable for this release, other than what they tell us as "soon". BAH!!

I'll say it again, if anyone is willing to step forward and help with this endeavor, it is welcomed with open arms. This is really Brian's call as he is our President and inherent IT guru.

What do you need done? I have a bit of linux experience and have setup phpbb a handful of times, but I am by no definition of the term an expert on phpbb. I'll gladly help if I can.

I would think that it's the call (and responsibility) of the webmaster to do what's necessary to ensure the site operates correctly.

Dan, per past IMs/PMs, my offer to help is still open as well...I just need your help getting access to the resources to be able to help.

I don't see how this has anything to do with the phpbb code--please enlighten me if there is documentation stating otherwise.

This is an SMTP error message. PHPBB did not generate this, it is simply passing back the error it received from the mail server it connected to.
That mail server is telling the PHPBB server to GTFO it's internets. Either tell the outgoing mail server to accept relay mail from this domain (ISP control), change the outgoing sender address to one it will accept (webmaster control), or change phpbb to use a different mail server, or to send directly to the destination servers (webmaster control).
Again, I can help troubleshoot/fix this as well, but I cannot without being given additional access and information.
