I found the easiest way to get and SD hood was to have a ford probe spin out in front of you in the snow on 490.
Your results may vary.

Joking? No, I'm quite serious. It worked for me. I still wouldn't recommend it (ever been in a vehicle when an airbag deploys? It sucks... for weeks after).
