Now that the site is running nice and fast, a feature/upgrade that I'd love to see added:

On other php based forums that I'm on, the software is not only able to keep track of which threads are new, but which posts you've already seen IN YOUR CURRENT SESSION.

You know what I mean?

You log on, and thread "ABC" has 5 new posts in addition to the 5 that were already there. You go to the first new post, and rightly so, you are taken to post 6. The first new one for you.

Now you go off and read other new threads.

Thread "ABC" gets 25 more new posts. You click to go to the first new post and rather than going to post number 11 (where you should be directed since you've already seen 1-10), you go back to post 6 (the first new one at the start of this session).

It's mildly annoying, but on other forums it's just so nice to be taken directly to the latest and newest post.

Could that feature be added here?

I'll put it on the to-do list, but we have a couple problems to fix first..... And I'm sick and need to recover from the move.... Smile

You're the bestest.

Oh and if you really are sick, a plate would help! Trust me on that one!

I haven't been to Empire Hots in over a year. I think I might need one soon.

As our cars get older, a General Mantenance Section would be helpfull. Like some areas I have worked on in my fleet of W bodys, like defroster fan replacement, wheel bearings, transmission fluid-filter change, AC recharge, things like that (and more involved jobs). The process and helpfull hints may be of value to others in the club. It would be great to be able to look it over before asking ?s, you know, like how much boost should a stock 97 GTP make Laughing

We could possibly add a Maintenance forum under Car Discussion & Mod Archive. In there, if we had some decent topics, they could be kept at the top. Or if we had content on a web page, I could keep that somewhere and link to it from that forum.

I had a Wimpy's plate last night. I want to eat healthier, but there's nothing else open on this side of town after 9.

You realize the more you talk about plates, the more likely it is I'm going to take you up on your offer of a place to stay if I visit Rochester? I need some real food damnit!

You'll always be welcome. In fact (and I'll have to check with the Innkeeper) I believe a plate is free with every night's lodging.

Wink

Oh, and while I'm on the subject, any of you guys ever been to the philly cheesesteak place on the main drag through canandaigua? Cheesesteak garbage plate. If it weren't for all the damn Franks on top it woulda been really good. (too much for my taste, barton would have still needed 2/3 of a bottle more)

Hey,

Can we do something where your signature only appears once per page.

It's not that I don't like looking at Mr. Goat...as a matter of fact, I find him quite handsome, but I gotta believe noone likes seeing that like 3-4X a page. A lot of other forums do this. Is that a hard mod?

Hmmm... Current software allows you to turn images/avatars/signatures on/off. It's in your profile settings. As far as displaying the signature one time per thread and then off, I'm not sure......... I'll put it on the request list. Some day we'll go to newer phpBB software.

Brian found phpBB code that can remove certain posted items (like sig) after the first occurrence in a post. But it will be a global change with no option in profile settings (which I don't have time to add right now).

Any objection to turning off signatures after they have been displayed once in a thread?
