Brian found phpBB code that can remove certain posted items (like sig) after the first occurrence in a post. But it will be a global change with no option in profile settings (which I don't have time to add right now).

Any objection to turning off signatures after they have been displayed once in a thread?

Will it just apply to the sig or will it apply to everything...like only one " Shocked " per thread etc...?

I can make it apply to anything I want (sig/rank/profile info/buttons). I was going to do just the sig.

Laaaaaarry? I got one request. I usually just come on here and check "unread posts"
So, what I used to do is, on the home page click the "unviewed topics since last visit". read then click home and repeat.
Now, theres no home page button (unless Im missing it) So, I gotta click on forums, then click on the "unviewed...."
Im just sayin....the home page button would be easier for...me. Embarassed Razz But, if its a PITA for youz...I can deal. Wink

Yes, the whole top image is a link to the "portal".

Just as a general tip for everyone:
I notice most people don't take advantage of "open in new window" when they use a web browser. You do a search in Google and want to open up a few different links. I never click on a link if I want to go back. I open up a bunch of pages in new windows and then check them all out. And I want the original Google window still open because I'm still using it. Ten years ago you had to open up a bunch of different web pages in different windows so they could load with dial-up, unless you like to sit there all day and watch your web page load.

Internet Explorer - right click and select "Open Link in New Window", or even easier - hold down shift and left click. More than one? shift+click a link, alt+tab to go back to the original, then shift click the next link.

Internet Explorer 7, with tabs is even easier. Clicking with the middle button (scroll wheel), opens a link in a new tab but stays on the original page.

So for the forum, I click on "unread topics", then for each topic I click it with the middle button, opening them all up in new tabs. In about three seconds I have each topic open in a tab. CTRL+TAB to go to the next one or CTRL+W to close and go to the next one.

I like the 1 sig per thread idea. But most only show sig on the first post. It would be much better if the sig was on the last post.

The reason being is that most people only read the last few posts when they come back to a thread. Therefor they will not see anyones sigs if the posted before much earlier in the thread.
