Someone is giving me an older vintage snowmobile, if anyone knows someone selling a small trailer (just need room for 1 snowmobile) let me know.

Also any good sources to get a hitch and required equipment for my grand prix to pull that small trailer/snowmobile combo?

Buy a brand new truck. It's a much better investment.

I've seen them on them, snow mobile is maybe 300-400 pounds for a heavy guess, very small unit, I can't afford a truck at the moment. It hurts to think about but its my best option at the moment.

I'll be towing below the 1000lb limit the grand prix has.

There's a Z06 in Webster. With a hitch. That pulls a trailer. In the winter.

^^^Thats fuggin hardcore man.

Well, if all the burnouts didnt kill the trans, I'd say this will be the true test.
If you're up for the drive, head out to Lockport...Cole Muffler on S.Transit (Rt.7Cool will have a hitch designed for your application. Let me know if you're interested, and I'll give you better directions and stuff.

Here's one for sale in Cortland for cheap ($20)... http://syracuse.craigslist.org/pts/612716995.html ... maybe he'll ship for a few bucks more.

Don't mind the appearance, mine was somewhat ugly, but cleaned up easy.

BEFORE --- AFTER

The harness is pretty basic, I just made one using junkyard connectors that go in the trunk... and spliced the necessary lines with about 4-5ft of wire to the trailer connector from a store, so that it basically acts like a pigtail harness.

connector location (#1)

conector pin-outs

I currently have the Rigid Class 1 hitch (2,000# max) that I got on craiglist in MN... my tranny guy (dad) was even the one who said to do it, meaning I was off the hook if something went bad. Laughing Only put about 40-50 miles on with it since trailer got WAY overloaded with car parts, so we went back with his Silverado to transfer some cargo to the box.

It towed very well around town when I only had 3 trannies and shortblocks, plus some random junk on the trailer, which is probably a tad more than a sled, especially older ones (I could tell when I added too much weight after that, though, as I nearly doubled that, but the light-weight tires started blowing before the car had issues).

Install was simple to do, as you can tell from my After picture, and feels plenty solid for a light trailer with just a touch of tongue weight. Be sure to mount the hitch to bend up and out, for proper height with the ball.

Speaking of that my tranny fluid looked "ok" when I changed it Smile

Thanks for the links guys, will explore the options.

Would the older body style hitch work with the newer body style grand prixs?

The 97+ should be the same, because I almost bought on from an '04, since the Rigid* brand lists the same parts for 97-03's (GT&P) and 04-08's for Class 1 (pg1) or Class 2 (pg2) styles.
http://www.rigidhitch.com/pages/pdfs/PAGE-42-44.pdf

I can take a pic of mine tomorrow, but basically all you see is the little black square reciever with the two loops, from the back... barely comes out past the bottom of the rear fascia. If I was picky (which I might be once I start washing the car more), It would only take 2-3min to reverse the install work, and toss the setup in a corner until needed, since I doubt I'll be towing anything without prior notice (3 full-size trucks at our house).

Yess I have seen that.... it has a Connecticut plate on it....and has those hideous backup lights on the hitch.
