A friend has this at her and her boyfriends house, he works at the Mack truck shop in Henrietta and apparently someone just left this car there. They checked with the police and its not reported stolen or anything, so he just brought it home. I dont have any pics yet, she's going to get them to me probably tonight. I guess it has a hole in the block, and the passenger side headlight is gone.

Galen, I was thinking maybe a good parts car for you? I told her that if they just want it gone to sell it for just a couple hundred, shes going to check with her boyfriend and get back to me. Either way, might be a good shell just for parts if the car itself is in good condition.

No matter how he fixes it, the pinstripe is going to be the bitch.

In 2k, was Silvermist the only silver available or where SM and GS both available?

I'm pretty sure this is the light silver, what Im assuming is silver mist? I showed her a pic of a light silver GTP and she said thats what it looks like. And is the pinstripe youre talking about painted on or just tape? If its just tape it wont be a problem, thats cake to do.

Joe, not sure on the VIN, I'll try to get that tonight as well.

The tags can be checked on both cars to be certain, but from what I quickly found, the 2000's only had Silvermist Metallic (U or WA331D). Looks like Galaxy Silver was '01+. A dealer's listing of touch-up colors would be the most accurate reference, though, as most aftermarket places will simply let a color code span a few extra years & let the user determine based on badging.

If Galen's interested, and hasn't already gotten the wheels in motion through another source yet, he can check his own door/trunk tags, and ask NYGTP to do the same on that car.

Example (highlighted in yellow):

Base Coat/Clear Coat... then code

VIN is 1G2WR5212YF228792, and its definitely a 2000 light silver in color. Pics should be coming tomorrow hopefully, she got home too late and it was dark already.

Well, if both tails are in decent shape, I'm in bad need of a set when you start digging into it. Mine delaminated badly a few years back, and they're beyond the basic repair point, due to water turning the inside to crap.

I don't think anyone has asked yet. Does the car actually run? Miles?

I think that's because everyone read the title to this post. Wink

Depending on what's screwed up with the engine, the s/c may be able to come off for rotor inspection (those like griding up piston chips in bad failures)... or it may be a spun bearing, with the rest able to get parted out.

I saw it on craigslist when i was browsing around. The front driver fender i need seems to have a decent size dent in it........and the bumper is fucked on it.

If they do part it out............i could definately use that whole driver front door with the mirror and window!!!!!

And yes if that car is 331D for the paint code thats what mine is also.

I'm going to inquire about it being parted out, as I highly doubt someone will pick it up for 2k as a whole car. I still gotta talk to him about it.

Belo, as far as I know its silver mist.
