Welcome,
I thought only old people and the Chinese drove Buicks.

I am old and I have a Buick, but why do you young people drive Buicks?

I do have a Grand Prix and an Oldsmobile and a Chevy.

I thought that too, until someone was kind enough to total my bonneville while I was stopped at a red light. And being under my parents insurance meant that they kept the money and I got the handed down car, while they got a new one.

6 more months....and it will either get replaced or moved to true winter beater status.

no judgement here. watch the LIM gasket, it was failure prone if you haven't already changed it.

Been there done that. What a PITA. I'll do a motor swap before I go through that crap again. I do think it is still leaking though. Rolling Eyes

I've done my fair share of 3800 UIM/LIM gasket changes and I would rather do 5 of them vs 1 3100 LIM gasket change. I'd probably finish faster with the 5 3800 changes also.

Welcome!

Gotta be one of the cleanest Centuries around.

So many of us here don't even have GPs any more. Some (brad) never did!

Don't worry about only having a 3.1L. My poor little car only has a 3.0. And it's not even a V6!

Beer and wings... mmmmm!

Truth.......I had a 1996 Lumina w/ the 3100 a few years ago and I will never touch one of those motors again......It was a bitch to work on...but properly maintained they do last a long time. My best friend I sold that Lumina to still has it to this day and just rolled 100K w/ it and the only thing that he's had to replace in the car is both front hubs and the gas tank.

100k on a 96...damn. When my car was passed into my family in '06 it has about 35k on it. I'll be rolling 135k in the next week or two.

I've done both front hubs on mine too, no gas tank but only because it is plastic.

It gets from A to B and takes the beatings I throw at it, I can't complain too much.

You know...now that you mention it, I am pretty sure I did go to a car show sometime mid/late summer 2008. Parked out in a grass field behind some bar/restaurant? There were a few regals there as I recall.
