Filled up the other day and 120 miles later ... still reading full. I hit a few larger bumps on purpose to see if the float would unstick ... Inconclusive. I'm planning on dropping the tank and seeing whats up with the float and mutlimetering the wiring. I dont think its wiring because if it was not getting power the gauges detent is empty (like when you shut the car off). Sound familiar to anyone? Thanks _________________

Have you been in the dash lately to put overlays in or anything? I'm sure you would have thought of that if you did, but figured I would throw it out there.
I would guess it's something electrical related. Here is a pretty good article with a few possible causes.

you don't need to drop the tank. go thru the access panel in the trunk. it's accessible through the rear seat pass-thru. remove the trunk carpet so you don't generate any static. Once you pull the panel off, clean off all the dirt and disconnect the connectors. Undo the snap ring and lift the pump out. The canister will still be full of fuel so be sure you are grounded and don't spill any!!! Then you can check the float. _________________ 1998 Silvermist GTP Coupe

I pulled it out to inspect. All seemed well, I pushed the contacts in a little and cleaned the shit out of the connectors. All better! Thanks for heads up on the inspection cover I would have never known it was there!!
Thanks Fellas! |
