BTW... almost done with the flash programming, fellas.
The next thing we need to discuss is when will be a good time to shut down the site for implementation and design work. In my estimation, I will likely need to shut the site down for a period of 24-72 hours in order to implement the new design, and to reinstall a fresh new phpBB engine so we can get rid of all these bugs and connection errors.
So, when do you want to disable the site? It's really up to you all. Let's talk it out.... |

I say pick some night. I can't see that it makes a whole heck of a lot of difference. |

nooooo not flash.....
i'd be happy with the "reinstall a fresh phpBB engine" thing. _________________ 1998 Silvermist GTP Coupe

Put the Flash up. If we don't like it, or it kills page loads, you'll hear about it.

Actually, if you're doing the work, isn't it up to you? Otherwise, how about Dec. 31? _________________ 2018 Acadia

Shit, the Flash is almost done so you'd better believe I'll put it up!! If you guys totally hate it I'll take it down. Keep in mind, Flash is LESS bandwidth intensive than standard HTML, so in essence Flash will SAVE page load times.
Dec. 31st sounds good.... but then again it might carry over to the 1st when many people are home on vacation, and might want to visit the site? Just a thought. |

I, for one, will be sleeping during the majority of Jan 1. Though, maybe that's not a good idea to do the upgrade then. I can't imagine how many drunken rants certain people will be looking to post in the wee hours of next year. Wouldn't want to miss those. |

Hey Larmo. I was thinking that it would be a good idea to integrate the website (http://unycgp.clubgp.com), forums (http://www.unycgpforums.com), and media server (http://media.unycgp.com) into one website.
We would have to revamp all of them to have the same look and feel. The unycgp.clubgp.com would be the portal for the other sites. It should appear to the user that they are not even leaving the different sites, but just using one site.
I know this is something you mentioned when you first started this site, so I thought you might be interested in doing it now.
p.s. Can we have a members page, where each member gets their own page for their info.

Yeah, Scott.... we can do that. I think that is the club's ultimate goal, to merge all sites into one. My question is, why bother having these all on different servers in the first place? Why not throw EVERYTHING on ONE server under ONE domain name?
I'm almost done with revamping this site (UNYCGPFORUMS.COM) so lets do that first. I think you'll end up seeing that the design and navigation I am developing will be very conducive to adding the entire UNYCGP web portfolio to it.
I appreciate your support and advice. I agree that this is the best for the club. Stay tuned. |
