|
|
Look, I know I am not the guy that should be setting up club events and I am just some loser, but I have been talking with Larry at the Western NY Turbo Buick club.
They are planning on renting the track one day in the spring and one day in the fall.
We came up with an idea of both clubs renting it together. The idea is to have a shootout between the turbo 3.8 and the SC 3.8. If all else fails it will just be a fun track rental. We hope to have 30 between the two clubs. The normal entry fee is 50 bux per racer, but he and I are working on sponsors to help lower the cost to all of us.
I have two on the hook right now that may participate. I don't want to say who yet, so I don't jinx it.
This could be a great time and a good exerience. Here are the tenative dates. These dates have been reserved by WNYTB at NYIRP.
4/24 and 9/11, both are sundays, and Bob has to get back to Larry to confirm.
I have a couple questions:
Do you all like this idea?
How can we make this an official event?
Do any of you know someone that may be interested in sponsorship?
Will you pricks go?
Do you think we can get about 15 cars to go?
Also they have invited us to thier monthly meeting at the Athen.....thats right Cheektowaga baby the 15th at 6pm. Any one wanna go to talk about this event?

Yes, I like the idea.
No idea how to make it "official" as I am still yet a newb on this board, but as the only two non-pontiacs, I will join ya.
Sponshership is tough...but I may be able to hook something up. Depends on wether or not we are allowed / able to get this as an "official event".
Yes. Me and my prick will go. And we will bring the GSE to challenge any and all that want it, win or lose in the hopes that this will lead to a descent tailgate party...Beer is good.
15 cars......well, we have 2 already. All we need now is a few of theses Pontiac owners to step up, & I know they will.. |

I might be up for this. Mod-day was being floated as being around that date. Maybe it needs to be moved up a couple weeks to get a little edge. Not that the GPs need any help (ok..I do). _________________ 2018 Acadia

Its going to be a great event, i believe Jack Cotton is coming from MA to one of those to tune our turbo regals also, should be a decent turn out like last years.
Ill most likely be running my fathers ttype, as my GS is slow and my GN is broke _________________ 87 GN---12.01 @114 (not stock)

Q: What does a Turbo GN say?
A: "mmmm.....SC 3800 tastes like chicken....."
Damn now I gotta get all my mods & maintenance done before April? I started making the list in front of the wife last night so she knows what to expect: "new hoses....rad flush....tranny fluid change....rocker install...alky injection kit...."
"What are those last two for?"
"Umm, better gas mileage. Yeah, that's it." _________________ 1998 Silvermist GTP Coupe

sounds good to me also, would be fun. We need Larry/John/Doug to come out to run these guys though.

Sounds like a gread idea, I'm in! Plus it gives me that needed motavation to FINISH MY STINKIN" CAR! You hear that Johnny? How are those heads coming along man?
Anyway, I'm more than willing to join them at their meeting this month in Cheektowaga to discuss this with them. I live 10 minutes from the resturant. Anyone else want to go, Johnny, Larry Shawn? It would be nice to have a rough head count for them! |
