I think all 4 of us representing this club at IDD6 ran PB's, but I will let them post about their times. _________________ 2001 Silver GTP coup 11.880@116.17 Fun Driver

My best time:
12.516 @ 109.97
which is a personal best. I was at 12.81 last year. 60' was 1.897. Best 60' of the day was 1.866. My car was pretty consistent too with 6 out of 7 runs with my best setup (2.8" pulley) being 12.5xx runs. Two 12.6xx runs with a 3.0" pulley at the beginning of the day.
I ran with my drag radials, haven't raced with slicks yet.
I came in fourth in my class and I'm assuming the top three had cam and no intercooler, but out of those cars, I only know for sure that Rob Archer does not have an intercooler.
My new mods are basically an XP cam, Gen V M90, LS1 TB, 42.5 lb injectors and a custom DHP PCM. And the Rob Archer Suspension Kit. I'll have more details/pictures on my site as soon as I get a chance.
Thanks to John C. for tuning help and letting me borrow his Upstate airbox. Thanks to Scott Preston for being everyone's pit crew and trying to stage my car and then take pictures of it while I almost ran him over. Thanks to Doug for hopefully not getting mad at me for spending all my time on my car and not helping with his. |

Silva's car was smoking. Really, it not only did one of the best/biggest burnouts, but he spun his tires 1/3 of the way down the track! Shitty time, like 14 seconds or something, but funny as hell to watch. I think that was his first run at a track ever. |

Larry congrates on the new personaly best. I know the cam had alot to do with it but do you think it was worth it to go with a Gen V instead of the ported blower you had before? Everyone says the Gen V is GOD. _________________ '08 TrailBlazer SS Black/Black |

Thanks Jay. That's a good question. Since I had everythng off the car, and not enough time, I decided to do everything at once. So I don't think I'll ever know for sure. I really went by what I heard from people and I guessed that it would be at least as good or better than my stage 2.
Zooomer's experience was that he dyno'ed about the same with his stage 4 blower and then a stock Gen V. Although he wasn't sure that the dyno was completely accurate. He also compared a stock Gen III to a Gen V on his blower dyno. Even though they are supposed to displace a constant amount of air per rotation, the Gen III started to drop from it's curve over 5k rpm and the Gen V stayed on course.
It also helped that I got the Gen V for a little less than the usual going price and I can still use the stage 2 blower on my other GTP if I so choose. |
