I have the same problem. I'm mentioned it before, but have not gotten resolution. I guess it doesn't rank high on the priority list. |

Sorry..... I guess I felt putting in 10+ hours last week to implement the new Calendar and Track Scoreboard were sufficient, considering the level of compensation that UNYCGP is paying me for my development services.
For those of you having this issue, let me ask you a few questions....
#1 - What is your ISP? In other words, how are you logging onto the Internet? Examples might include Adelphia PowerLink, Verizon DSL, AOL, Earthlink, etc.. If your answer is AOL, there are known issues with what are called "sessions", and this is a limitation of AOL and AOL alone. There is nothing that we can do at all.
#2 - What URL are you going to when you initially login to the forum? Some members have found a remedy in doing directly to www.larmondra.com/phpBB2/index.php instead of going to our "masked" URL of www.UNYCGP.com. For the record, I don't have this problem with either URL, and I don't believe I am alone.
#3 - What Internet browser are you using? phpBB is built for Internet Explorer, and this is the only browser that is supported. If you are trying to use AOL's hideous browser, I recommend minimizing AOL and using IE. (of course if you're using AOL you'll have the errors mentioned in #1 above anyway.) Furthermore, if you are using Nutscrape Navigator, I recommend NOT doing so. If for whatever reason you do not have IE installed on your PC, go to www.Microsoft.com and download it for free. If you have an old version of IE, it might be a good idea to upgrade at this point anyway at the same address.
#4 - Have you recently cleared your Temporary Internet Files and Internet Cache? If not, do so. And make sure that cookies are enabled in your Internet Options.
#5 - Are you on a PC or Macintosh? If your answer is the latter, you may experience problems. I didn't write the source code, so don't blame me for these incompatibilities.
Try those on for size. I'd be willing to bet that those select few of you that are having login issues are either on AOL, using a Mac, or using a browser that's not the most updated version of IE.
I sincerely apologize to those of you that feel this site is not being properly maintained. I'm seriously trying to do my best and provide this group with as much of my time as possible. But please realize I have a full time job downtown in Buffalo, and I also run a web-development business on the side. Suffice to say, time management is a huge challenge for me right now, especially when I find myself neglecting my GTP.
Lastly, for future reference..... since I only visit these boards once in awhile, I will respond to PM's much quicker than I will new posts to this forum.

This is what worked for me...for some reason I deleted all my cookies, and it still wouldn't let me on. Oh well, the other one works fine!

Please don't start again! You offered and some members including my self thought it would help the club! If you are looking for financial compensation, there is an easy process for this....
1.) talk to the UNYCGP Financial Dept. (Scott Preston)
2.) he will give you details, and directions to NYIRP
3.) 2 ways to win show up at Scheduled events where we raffle off prizes or come to bracket racing and win a said event! Or if you are feeling REALY saucey you could come to all the events this year and try to get the 60% off coupon from the GP Store like John C did this year!
Other than that UNYCGP is a FREE club, and unfortunatley you offered your services for free! And I appreciate your work, and especially the way things are finally coming together, and almost all the gliches have been fixed. |

1. I have Time Warner Road Runner at home. It is networked through a Speedstream Router/Firewall/print server. At work, we use the ISP in our building which is a DS-3??. We have a firewall, but do not have any content filtering in place.
2. I have both the old and new urls bookmarked on my work and home computers. I am only logged in automatically on the older url and not the masked one unless I visit the old one first. The wifes laptop only has the new url bookmarked, therefore I have to log in each time.
3. I use Internet Explorer 6 with all updates on all machines.
4. I have cleared my cache and cookies several times. On the computer that does not have cookies automatically enabled has an override for unycgpforums.com.
5. All of my computers are PC based running Windows XP.
As one of the few having login issues, I can say that I dont met any of the criteria you established for having problems.
I do appreciate the hours you have put into making this board work. You have added several features that are nice. I did not realize that you would take this issue so personally.
In regards to compensation Scott M stated it quite well. You are doing this of your own free will. There is not, and most likely will not, be any compensation to you by the UNYCGP for running these boards. If you wish to start a donation fund, feel free. Im sure you can set up donations@unycgpforums.com and ask us for donations to help your cause. |

im so lost..i don't mind but it would save me a few clicks |

Scott,
It would appear that is your resolutions, use the older URL as your bookmark since that will allow you to login automatically each time.
I didn't mean for my post to come across as taking personal offense to your statement. I am fully aware that I am volunteering my personal time and effort into this board, and I do not desire any compensation. I've never asked for any compensation whatsoever. I've even gone to the extent of purchasing the domain rights to www.UNYCGPFORUMS.com, again at my own expense.
I look forward to continuing to work with you all as we make this a very enjoyable web community.

a Mac snob, eh? I'm using Safari on a 867Mhz Powerbook G4 running OSX 10.2.6. It works better than IE and I have no issues logging in or maintaining cookies. _________________ 1998 Silvermist GTP Coupe

I really wish I could duplicate your issue, but I cannot. If I could I could more easily help remedy the issue, but I've tried everything and I cannot.

1. Not sure what ISP is? LOL But I'm getting on the internet off a screen name, from somones AOL.
2. If I delate my "cookies?" (thats the "history" right?) both site names will remember and auto log me, one time only. Then it's back to normal.
3. ???? don't know any of that stuff?? But everything else works fine internet wise. I just click on the AOL icon....hear some really bad sound..... Bo Yaaaa I'm on the web! BTW I re-named the icon "shitty internet sevice"
4. That works, but only for one time I post in this forum.
5. Humm PC or Mac..... (loooking)...... "Tiger" on the computer..... "plexWritter" on the CD stuff.....I packard bell on the key borad, BTC my new 3 button mouse? I don't think it's a mac. so I'll take the 50% chance...
"What is a PC, alex?"
6. Did I win? |
