As some of you know, I work with about 70 or so kids every weekend in a program called the Young Marines. We are always looking for fund raising ideas, and I wondered if you guys would have any interest in participating in a car show come spring?

I figured we could get a few clubs together and show off our cars, do a BBQ, and have a good time with the kids for the day. We have a fire hall that has already said we could do it but we need to get it organized for Spring. We would do it in Niagara Falls in the spring and our friends at the local TV and Newspapers are willing to advertise it for us.

We will of course charge a small entrance fee for visitors which would cover the viewing of the cars, food, and a bunch of prizes we can give away. Maybe a vote on the best car would get a nice prize for donating your time too?

I usually give 300+ hours per year to the program, and we have a lot of great kids that could use the funds to get new camping gear, rapelling trips, activities, and much more...I have a staff od 13 adults who all donate time to the program, and we get "0" $$ to work with, so we live on donations and fund raising. There are TWO people on the board here who have helped us out in a MAJOR way already, and this would be a cool event with lot's of car's and done in a way to help out kids who really need it!

If there is an interst here, let me know and I will take on all of the responsibility to set it up and get it going for maybe April - May of 06.

Carry Citro has also been a HUGE supporter of the unit, and we took the liberty of hooking up his cousin with a "little" care package while he was in Afghanistan.

See if you can have classes in the show for GP's. I know that the Tri-5 has sponsered ben. shows, try there.

We put a show on here in rochester in the fall and were able to draw 100 or so cars on limited advertising. I know WNYFBODY loves going to shows and rolled in 30 deep to our show. One thing I suggest is you have some activities to keep spectators occupied besides the cars, like raffles, maybe some demos and such. I would love to help with this as much as possible, but I am in my last year of college and have my senior project coming up, so I don't know how much I will be able to.

I'm in, and I have a lot of "car" connections, I could get quite a few people to show.

BBQ will attract a lot of people.

Awesome Guys! We will have to make this a HUGE club event though, so it doesn't flop...This could wind up being an annual event for the club, and seeing 100+ cars from our club would be fantastic!

We will work through it in the months to come and get it organized and professionally done! Trophys, prizes, maybe PFYC involvement, ZZP? I will work on it !!
