Thank you, Carl. The thicker skin reference was for dealing with the one time that the server might not be available for a few seconds and users might actually have to hit the "refresh" button.
I am not suggesting my service is thankless, but I am suggesting this membership is quick to criticize. I'll leave it at that. _________________ Shelby GT500 Convertible

While i am sure the bandwith required to run this forum greatly excedes that required to run unycgp.com, i'm pretty sure this downtime issue is one of the reasons consolidation won't be in the near future. Consider it a system of virtual checks and balances as well as a way of ensuring that UNYCGP has SOME sort of web representation at any given time. If this site happens to be down, unycgp.com seems to still be up...and if an 'outsider' was to come looking for us that would probably be his/her page of choice...or at least a good place to start looking. If the forum (directly linked from uny.com) happens to be down..well then it's a case of forum maintanance rather than just having us look like a club that doesn't have all it's virtual eggs in a row. It just seems safer to me.
You're making it sound like 'we' get the same sort of servie that your clients do. I can't immage you'd tell a client to grow thicker skin, and being that you're a web development professional, you must understand 'our' unease when the webmaster of...well...the only thing that holds us all togeather...tells us to 'grow thicker skin' if it doesn't work--especially when he tells us it's a new..dependable...server.
How about we let the thing prove itself? yar? _________________ Hi, I'm Matt. I'm the resident smartass and I have fourblack children: (ok, one's only half black..)

I appreciate the feedback, Matt. I honestly feel its hard to compare side-by-side the uptime of our two club websites. At any given time, there is SOMEBODY trolling the pages of this forum using its bandwidth and testing its servers. So when the server may be under maintenance for a few minutes people notice. As we all know, unycgp.com doesn't have nearly the activity, so who would know if the server was unavailable for even a small period.
Consolidation makes sense to me from a club's standpoint, but its no skin off my teeth if it doesn't happen!!
