You can drive it without a case learn, and anyone with a powertuner can do it. it takes 4 seconds

Search the forums for "crankcase variation " something or other. They do not need to flash the pcm to do it.

Of course if you had a 97 it would be irrelevant. Laughing

Also, I see that people go to the dealer and get the learn done. I called to make the apt. and I asked them to make sure they did not flash the PCM and they said, "thats the only way".

Unfortunately, most dealers do not understand what the CASE learn is and some of them are not interested in understanding it or helping anyone out. And they will charge a full hour of labor just to plug in the Tech II to do the case learn. Some service departments might tell you on the phone they know what it is and they still don't actually know.

Unless you know a shop that understands what the case learn is and will not charge too much just wait for a club meet that you can attend. Folks with a PowrTuner (there's a couple in Rochester) can do a case learn for you.

I finally went to Bill Rapp and talked ot the service manager. He spoke to one of the techs, and he did it for me.
It was that freaking quick. and only 40.00 bucks.
Car runs great and I also added a 3.4 pulley over the weekend.
Very Happy
