BTW, also a good reason to avoid 97-98 is the coolant bottle location and airbox config. _________________ Good Bye.

That car in the ad is a 2001 Special Edition, as was mentioned. It has roof rails, spoiler, two tone interior, twenty spoke chrome wheels and heat extractors in the hood. The Daytona was the special edition (in blue) in 1998 (only?) and they don't use that name anymore, just 'Special Edition'. The 2002 Special Edition is the 40th Anniversary special edition in that maroon or redfire metallic color. There's a 03 S.E. with a different spoiler and also S.E. of the newer body style. |

Those hood ducts on the Special Edition's and daytona's are functional? I didnt know that? I thought they were for looks, and that the only GP's that came w/ a functional hood were the GTX's. _________________

They are actual holes in the hood. |

Right, but they're not ram air. So they're sort of functional. _________________

Correct, not ram air. GM calls them 'heat extractors'. They have nothing to do with engine air intake. I view them as being there for looks, but with actual holes in the hood so they are a step above having fake hood scoops. |

ya, I believe they are like the 1rst gen GTPs and TGPs where it just pulls heat off the engine, having nothing to do with the intake.
I went and talked to the guy today and he seems really shady... It was the special edition as you said but it almost seemd like he didn't even wanna talk to me about the car... Ya I know the weather is kinda crappy, but when someone comes in knowing exactly what they want, you could show a little more interest in him as a customer, especially when I walk into a used pontiac dealership wearing my Pontiac hat... lol
But anyway, I am gona see if I can sell the Bu and for how much and what I would need to get a loan for, so I may be buying it pending it's still for sale next time we have a nice day here and I can take a better look at it to make sure it doesn't need anything more than tires.
He looked at the car from the window and pretty much said "I don't want that"... lol |

The 2000 Daytona Edition was the same as the 2001 Special Edition (including a rare Dolphin-powered GTP) and the 2002 40th Anniversary. Tommy had/has a 2000 Daytona. The 1998 Daytona Edition was an actual limited edition model. |

Another thing that got me on the car is KBB suggested damn near 10k for the car and he is selling for 8... From what I could see today, it was in great shape, although the leather could use a little TLC, its got some cracks in it, but not too bad. |

If you are really interested in it....dont be afraid to talk him down even more.... it's you'r $$ and ya never know. And make sure they give you some kinda decent warrenty too. I personally dont trust those little "shady" dealers.. I would rather buy a car from a private owner b4 i bought 1 from 1 of them little dealers. |

Do a carfax report on it. It may not reveal everything, but it could turn up something. |

Ya, I plan to check my other forums to see if anyone has a carfax open to do it for me before I go and pay for it... But I agree, I would also prefer private party sale over mom and pop dealerships... |
