I'd almost say, keep your 180* in there. Bring your fan "on/off" temps down and keep an eye on KR. higher the engine temp=more efficient combustion. _________________ ZZP stuff...

"Certified Auto Trans Shop" Transmission sold by ZZP...I have no comment for this peice of...great trans.

I didn't like running a drilled T stat. it took forever to warm up, and i dont think the engine sees a difference from a KR point.
Let me check, I think I have a 160 or a 180 drilled around. _________________ 1998 Silvermist GTP Coupe

+1. Cold weather was a chore with a drilled thermostat. _________________ Hi, I'm Matt. I'm the resident smartass and I have fourblack children: (ok, one's only half black..)

Does AutoZone or Advance not carry these things? The coldest one I ever purchased was a 180 degree unit. Drilling it is easy enough. |

AutoZone has both 160 and 180, I had the part numbers in the list I made a couple years ago for cheap prices, posted here somewhere.
I got another 160 from there when I couldn't find my previous one for this summer (drilled myself, of course).
The deicison for "how low can you go" should be really based on what your car tells you after alot of experimenting... but not everyone has the ability to scan the snot out of it over years. In my case, the difference between possibly dropping 1mpg in a car with well over 400hp already getting over 30 at times, isn't really my main concern... but hey, splitting hairs is what causes insomnia for some.
