My MAF has been dying on and off, it threw P0102 this morning, I took out the AFC and it would still occasionally show numbers from -12000 to zero to normal +4000 while cruising.

any harm in short term driving in SD mode?

It may run real rough and stall. It might run real rich and mess up your plugs and O2 sensor???

Speaking of the picnic, anything set in motion to plan this yet? I think planning it is a good excuse to get together for beer and wings.
