If he wants a real improvement for a GT/LS I'm assuming, get a DOHC radiator from a mid-90's GP/Monte/Cutlass. I got mine for $24 at a JY in MN 3yrs ago. They're twice the thickness of a GT and GTP's, which are barely different. Stock hoses fit, even with the lower one's slight angle. Stock tranny lines fit, unless he has newer quick-connects (99 or 00+), and would need to just adapt. Good thing is, they sit behind the A/C condensor, so it'll still look crisp, and didn't use DexCool back then, so the inside lines should be clean.
Just a suggestion.
